Although Don always fancied himself as a forward during his playing days with Four
Masters, successive managers never allowed him past the half back line and with good
reason. A real leader in the heart of the defence, Don represented club and county with
distinction and played a pivotal role in the Dr. Maguire Cup returning to Donegal Town in
2003. Don currently coaches the u13 team and his family business, Donegal Tyre Centre
have been a loyal and generous sponsor of the club for over thirty years. Don’s wife Paula
serves on the club executive as Oifigeach na Gaeilge and is ensuring the cultural side of the
club is very well represented. Their three children all play in the blue and white and will
hopefully benefit from the clubhouse when it is constructed in the near future.
