Gerard developed his love for GAA at the University of Life, a.k.a. McGroarty’s Bar under the
guidance of Tommy McGroarty followed by Jack and Stella. He picked up many nuggets of
wisdom late at night from both sides of the counter and he has incorporated them all into his
coaching when assisting the u9, u11 and u14 boys’ teams which his three sons are part of.
His wife Caroline, who is a proud Leitrim woman, has vowed to get Gerard to the starting line
on time and we can only admire her optimism. Gerard is keen to get the clubhouse off the
ground for the club but also for the Bluestack Foundation who will be using it also. His
nephew David attends the foundation and has represented his country on the Irish Futsal
team, a fantastic achievement which was celebrated by the whole community.
